The City of Lawton’s Youth & Family Affairs Committee is now accepting grant applications, officials said 

Lawton, OK – According to the city officials, the application period will take place from January 22 to February 9 and is specifically for local nonprofit organizations aiming to host summer programs for the City’s youth.

Applications can be found here under the City Clerk’s page. Applications may be submitted to the City Clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m. on February 9, 2024.

This is a competitive grant opportunity and organizations must demonstrate through their application that their program will:

1. Focus on at-risk youth
2. Provide opportunities for life and/or career enhancing skills
3. Increase the percentage of youth that stay in school
4. Increase the percentage of youth that stay active in programs that foster youth development and prevent involvement in crime
5. Promote academic or other non-athletic related activities and life skills.

The amount of funding available for summer programs has not yet been determined. The Youth & Family Affairs Committee is planning to make a recommendation to the City Council regarding funding requests by mid-April.
