Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released footage following an arrest connected to a fatal shooting investigation in Muskogee County.
According to authorities, the investigation began after a shooting on April 18, 2026, near Fort Gibson, where deputies with the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunfire at a Dollar General store located at 100 N. 4 Mile Road.
Investigators said the victim attempted to drive away after being shot but crashed across the street at a nearby convenience store, striking another vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A woman involved in the crash was also injured, and another vehicle was struck during the incident. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released the dashcam footage earlier this week.
Authorities said the initial call was reported as an injury crash before responding agencies determined it was connected to a shooting. The Cherokee Nation Marshal Service also responded to assist during the early stages of the investigation.
Witness information helped investigators identify a suspect believed to be traveling south on U.S. Highway 69. Troopers later located and arrested Christopher Robert Jacobs, 35, of Taft, during a traffic stop near Atoka.
Officials said Jacobs was identified as a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Jail records show he was booked on a complaint of first-degree murder.
Authorities said the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from multiple agencies, including OHP and Cherokee Nation Marshal Service.
