Lawton, OK – Lawton residents will have the opportunity to take part in the annual Trash Off event on April 5, 2025, as the City of Lawton and the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority collaborate to promote environmental responsibility. The event, which supports the Kids First initiative, aims to create a cleaner and safer community for future generations.
The cleanup will be held in the parking lot of the McMahon Memorial Auditorium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents will be able to dispose of items that require special handling and cannot be discarded with regular household waste. Accepted materials include used oil, batteries, tires (no larger than truck size), scrap metal, appliances, fire extinguishers, and paint.
Certain materials will not be accepted at the event, including medical and hazardous waste, ammunition, compressed gas cylinders, and commercial waste.
Participation in the event is free for Lawton residents, who must present proof of residency through a government-issued ID with a Lawton address, a City of Lawton utility bill, or an active military ID. Non-residents may participate for a $25 fee, payable by cash or check.
Organizers emphasize that the event serves not only as a means of proper waste disposal but also as an effort to support the Kids First initiative, which focuses on improving the environment for children in Lawton.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and take part in the cleanup effort on April 5.
