Oklahoma – Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers Byron Pletcher and Summer Smith are preparing to represent the state at the 2nd Annual National Top Trooper Competition in Ohio next week.
The competition will be held at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy, where Pletcher and Smith will compete against top troopers from across the country in several categories, including driving, physical fitness, firearms and leadership assessment.
Chief Joe Williams recognized both Pletcher and Smith this week with awards after they were named top troopers in Oklahoma.
The upcoming competition will give the two troopers an opportunity to compete at the national level while representing the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the state.
OHP also highlighted the success of Trooper Mike Brown, who took top honors at last year’s national competition.
The department said it will provide updates throughout next week as Pletcher and Smith compete in Ohio.
Oklahoma will also have the opportunity to host the national competition next year at the state’s new training facility.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol wished Pletcher and Smith good luck and said the agency was proud to have them representing Oklahoma at the national competition.
