Lawton, OK – Lawton residents are invited to take part in the annual Trash Off event on Saturday, April 26, 2025, as part of a citywide effort to promote environmental responsibility and support the Kids First initiative.
Hosted by the City of Lawton and the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority, the event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the McMahon Memorial Auditorium.
Trash Off offers residents the opportunity to safely dispose of items that should not be placed in regular household waste.
Accepted materials include batteries, tires (truck size or smaller), scrap metal, appliances, fire extinguishers, paint, and sensitive documents for shredding.
Items such as medical and hazardous waste, ammunition, compressed gas cylinders, and commercial waste will not be accepted.
The event is free for residents who live within Lawton city limits. Proof of residency is required, and participants can bring a government-issued ID with a Lawton address, a City of Lawton utility bill, or an active military ID.
Those living outside of city limits may also participate for a $25 fee, payable by cash or check.
In addition to cleaning up the community, the event supports the Kids First initiative, which focuses on creating a cleaner, safer environment for children in Lawton.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and join neighbors in contributing to a healthier and more sustainable city.
