Lawton Citizens Academy participants tour wastewater treatment facility during 10th week of community program

Lawton, OK – Lawton Citizens Academy participants recently visited the City of Lawton’s wastewater treatment facility as part of the 10th week of the community education program.

During the visit, participants learned how wastewater is treated and how the city works to protect local waterways through its treatment and infrastructure systems.

The group toured the wastewater treatment facility and visited the laboratory, where they learned more about the various systems and processes involved in treating wastewater and keeping the community’s water clean.

Participants also learned about the crews responsible for maintaining and repairing the pipes and other infrastructure that keep the wastewater system operating.

The visit gave Citizens Academy participants an inside look at an essential city service and the work involved in maintaining Lawton’s wastewater infrastructure.

The city said next week will mark the final Citizens Academy session, which will also include the program’s graduation.
