Lawton, OK – The Lawton Fire Department continued its Citizens Fire Academy with a third night dedicated to emergency medical skills and the critical role firefighters play in providing pre-hospital care to the community.
Participants in the program received hands-on instruction in basic medical techniques, learned more about EMS operations, and gained practical experience in responding to medical emergencies. The evening concluded with trainees practicing CPR, giving them an opportunity to apply the skills being taught in a real-world context. Instructors noted that the engagement and participation from class members reflected strong interest in the training and in the fire service.
The Citizens Fire Academy is designed to give community members a closer look at the responsibilities and daily operations of firefighters, including emergency medical response, which represents a significant portion of calls handled by the department. Lawton Fire Department emphasized appreciation for participants and their willingness to learn more about public safety operations and the work performed by firefighters to serve residents of Lawton.
