Lawton, OK – The Lawton Fire Department said its deployed boat rescue teams relocated to Cotulla after completing operations near San Antonio, positioning themselves for new assignments as flooding conditions worsened farther south.
In an update shared by the department, officials said the day had been relatively quiet for the crews before they began traveling to Cotulla later in the evening.
The relocation was made so the teams could be ready to respond as severe flooding continued to affect parts of South Texas.
The department asked the public to keep its personnel, as well as everyone impacted by the flooding, in their thoughts and prayers as response efforts continue.
Lawton firefighters are among the emergency responders assisting with flood response operations in Texas, where heavy rainfall has caused dangerous flooding in multiple communities. By repositioning to Cotulla, the teams will be better situated to support rescue and emergency operations as conditions evolve.
The department also thanked supporters for their continued encouragement and support of the deployed personnel as they remain on assignment.
