Lawton continues citywide park upgrades under Kids First initiative

Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton is advancing its efforts to enhance community spaces with ongoing park improvements across the city.

Recent renovations have transformed parks from Greer Park to Gooch Acres, with work now underway at Kathy Newcombe Park near Fort Sill Boulevard and Ferris Avenue.

Crews at Kathy Newcombe Park are installing new playground equipment and modern structures designed to replace aging fixtures and provide safe, engaging spaces for children and families.

The upgrades are part of the City’s Kids First Initiative, a citywide program aimed at investing in youth by improving the parks where they learn, play, and grow.

Additional parks, including Stephens Park on NW 23rd Street, are slated for future upgrades. Officials said these projects continue a broader vision of creating a healthier, more connected community, one park at a time, while ensuring that older parks receive the attention needed to serve residents for decades to come.
