Deacon Davis honored as March Citizen of the Month for decades of service to Lawton community 

Lawton, OK – Mayor Stan Booker presented Deacon Harold Davis with the March Citizen of the Month proclamation, recognizing his decades of selfless service to the Lawton, Oklahoma, community.

Deacon Davis has been a pillar of generosity and dedication, leading the St. John’s Baptist Feeding Ministry and ensuring that those in need receive essential meals. Under his guidance, approximately 130 volunteers have worked tirelessly to prepare and distribute food, making a significant impact on the lives of many.

“On behalf of my church family who makes my job easy, we do what God tells us to do, and he says feed his people,” Davis said upon receiving the honor. “We’ve been able to do this for over forty years. I thank the many churches and the volunteers that come out each and every day to feed his people.”

In 2024 alone, Deacon Davis and his team have provided over 34,000 meals to individuals and families in need throughout the Lawton-Fort Sill community. His unwavering dedication has been a source of hope, ensuring that no one in the community goes hungry.

Serving meals every Monday through Friday, Davis has carried out this mission without seeking recognition or financial compensation. His efforts stem from a deep commitment to helping others and fostering a stronger, more compassionate community.

The City of Lawton acknowledged Davis’s outstanding contributions, expressing gratitude for his leadership and kindness. His work continues to set an inspiring example, highlighting the power of service and community support.
