Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department thanked the Lawton community and fellow first responders for their support following the wildfires that affected the area.
In a message shared by the department, officials highlighted a heartfelt note from a community member thanking firefighters, police officers, dispatchers and other emergency responders for their work during the fires.
The resident praised responders for working long hours in extreme heat and difficult conditions while protecting Lawton and surrounding communities.
The Lawton Police Department said messages like the one they received mean a great deal to the men and women working to protect the community.
The department also expressed its appreciation to every firefighter, police officer, dispatcher, emergency responder and supporting agency involved in the response.
“Thank you for your courage, dedication, and service,” the department said.
Officials also thanked residents for their patience, support and appreciation as emergency crews worked through the difficult conditions.
