Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department celebrated the graduation of Academy Class 2026-24, marking the successful completion of the department’s 24-week police academy.
Department officials recognized the graduates for their commitment and dedication, noting that 24 weeks earlier they had chosen a career focused on serving and protecting the Lawton-Fort Sill community.
The academy prepares recruits through extensive training in areas including criminal law, patrol procedures, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations, physical fitness, ethics, report writing, crisis response, and community policing. The program is designed to equip new officers with the knowledge and skills needed before beginning their law enforcement careers.
Lawton Police praised the graduates for their hard work, perseverance, and determination throughout the academy, saying they earned the opportunity to wear the badge with pride.
The department encouraged community members to congratulate the new officers as they begin serving residents across the Lawton-Fort Sill area.
Lawton Police also used the occasion to invite individuals interested in a career in law enforcement to consider joining the department. Those interested in becoming a Lawton police officer were encouraged to contact the department’s Training Division to learn more about employment opportunities.
The graduation ceremony marked the beginning of the graduates’ careers as they prepare to serve the community as members of the Lawton Police Department.
