Lawton Police Department welcomes law enforcement officers for statewide gang investigators conference

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department welcomed more than 150 law enforcement officers from across Oklahoma as the city hosted this year’s Oklahoma Gang Investigators Association conference.

The conference was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lawton and focused on gang awareness, emerging trends, investigative strategies, and community education, according to the department.

Lawton Police said hosting the event provided an opportunity for agencies from across the state to strengthen partnerships, share information, and improve coordination in efforts to protect communities.

The department expressed appreciation to the Oklahoma Gang Investigators Association for selecting Lawton as the location for the conference and thanked everyone involved in making the event successful.

The opening ceremony included a Presentation of the Colors by the Lawton Police Department Honor Guard, which the department highlighted as part of the event’s official welcome.

Lawton Police also recognized Mayor Stan Booker, City Manager John Ratliff, and Chief Craig Akard for helping welcome attendees and emphasizing the importance of continued training and collaboration among law enforcement agencies.

Officials said events like the conference help officers stay informed about changing challenges, develop investigative skills, and build stronger relationships between agencies throughout Oklahoma.

The department said continued training opportunities play an important role in enhancing public safety and helping law enforcement better serve the communities they protect.
