Lawton fire officials join regional agencies for emergency operations training workshop at FISTA

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Fire Department participated in a regional training effort alongside emergency response partners during an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) workshop held in Southwest Oklahoma.

Officials said the training brought together multiple agencies, including emergency management partners, for a day of learning focused on coordination, communication, and decision-making during major incidents.

According to organizers, the workshop emphasized practical, hands-on skills used in an Emergency Operations Center environment. These included developing a common operating picture, tracking resources, preparing situation reports, and coordinating across different jurisdictions and agencies during emergencies.

The session was held at FISTA Innovation Park in Lawton, which officials described as a collaborative space designed to support innovation, training, and regional problem-solving among public safety agencies.

Emergency officials said the goal of the workshop was to strengthen preparedness before disasters occur by improving relationships and shared understanding between response partners.

The Lawton Fire Department described the event as a productive day of learning and collaboration with partner agencies, highlighting the importance of joint training in improving emergency response across the region.
