Lawton, OK — The City of Lawton announced Friday that all city offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, due to ongoing winter weather and freezing conditions expected in the area.
The closure will include the Lawton Public Library, the Lawton Landfill, and all city recreation centers, the city government said in a social media post. The announcement also warned residents that trash service would not run on Monday.
Instead, the city said trash pickup schedules will be shifted by one day: Area 1 will be picked up on Tuesday, January 27, and Area 2 will be picked up on Wednesday, January 28. Bulk pickup for Area 4 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
City officials said they will continue to monitor the weather forecast and provide updates as necessary, and urged residents to stay safe and warm during the cold conditions.
