Texas – A Texas woman is behind bars and charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assauIt with a deadIy weapon following a shooting early Saturday in Texas. Investigators say the shooting left two of her chiIdren dead and seriousIy injured two others.
According to the Texas authorities, deputies were called to a gas station at around 4:48 a.m. after a woman, 31-year-old O. RomeIus, contacted authorities to respond to her location. When deputies arrived, they found all four children inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Two children—a thirteen-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl—were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two children, ages eight and nine, were flown to a hospital and were in stable condition.
Texas authorities believe the shooting occurred inside the vehicle, although they have not confirmed the precise location of the shooting act. Surveillance footage, gas station receipts, and other evidence are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
During questioning, the parent gave statements that investigators describe as inconsistent and delusional. She told Texas authorities she believed she was calling the “deviI” instead of 911 and expressed fear that her children would harm her. She reportedly told investigators that, instead of them doing it to her, she was going to do it to them, and when asked what she meant she said she planned to kill them all. She also said the children were with the deviI and were dead to her.
A search warrant executed at her home in Texas turned up numerous documents and electronics that raised suspicions of identity fraud. Investigators reported finding dozens of Social Security cards, identification cards, credit cards, devices, printers, and other material likely used to produce fraudulent identification. Romelus’ home was entered via a forced entry, though her 17-year-old son, not present in the vehicle, was not found in the house.
The surviving children are cooperating with investigators, and child protective services is involved to ensure their ongoing welfare. She remains in custody on a $14 million bond. The investigation continues as Texas authorities work to piece together the timeline, motive, and full scope of the tragic events.
