Lawton, OK – A person trapped in a building collapse in Lawton was rescued by firefighters on June 15 and transported to an Oklahoma City hospital in serious condition, according to the Lawton Fire Department.
The Department said its technical rescue team responded to the collapse near the intersection of NW Victory Avenue and NW Cache Road. Emergency crews launched a rescue operation after receiving reports that an individual was trapped within the collapsed structure.
At approximately 4:59 p.m., the Lawton Fire Department announced that the trapped individual had been successfully rescued. Officials said the person was flown by air ambulance to an Oklahoma City hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The rescue operation involved multiple agencies, including Kirk’s EMS, the Lawton Police Department, and Survival Flight. Fire officials thanked the assisting agencies for their support during the incident.
While emergency crews worked at the scene, the Lawton Police Department restricted eastbound traffic on NW Cache Road to a single lane near Liberty Lake Park to allow responders adequate space to conduct rescue operations safely.
Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area during the response and to give emergency personnel room to work.
No additional information about the cause of the collapse or the identity of the injured individual was immediately released. Officials said further details would be provided as they become available.
