Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton celebrated a successful Let’s Get Moving Lawton event after residents gathered for a morning of fitness, wellness, and family-friendly activities.
Community members of all ages participated in the event, which featured a variety of activities designed to promote healthy lifestyles, including a 2K Walk & Run, Zumba, Tai Chi, and Yoga sessions.
City officials thanked everyone who attended, saying it was encouraging to see friends, families, and neighbors come together to stay active while celebrating a healthier community.
The event was made possible through partnerships with several local organizations, including the Lawton Farmers Market, the Comanche County Health Department, Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, and the Lawton Public Library, all of which helped provide activities and resources for participants.
The City also recognized the Public Works Streets Division for safely managing temporary road closures throughout the event, helping ensure a safe environment for walkers, runners, and other attendees.
The Lawton Fire Department also took part by bringing its popular obstacle course, which officials said was a favorite attraction for participants of all ages.
City leaders expressed appreciation to the volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and residents who helped make the event a success.
Let’s Get Moving Lawton is one of the city’s community wellness initiatives aimed at encouraging physical activity, healthy living, and stronger community connections through free, family-oriented events.
Officials said they look forward to hosting similar events in the future as they continue promoting health, recreation, and community engagement across Lawton.
