Oklahoma Highway Patrol used airboat to monitor Bird Creek flooding in Skiatook

Oklahoma – Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol deployed an airboat to monitor rising floodwaters along Bird Creek in Skiatook as heavy rainfall impacted the region.

On April 30, Trooper Shaun Vann operated one of the agency’s airboats to closely track conditions in the area.

The patrol’s deployment was part of a broader flood response effort aimed at protecting residents and ensuring emergency access where needed.

Officials urged the public to stay clear of flooded roads, follow all local advisories, and avoid driving around barricades.

“Our team was prepared with watercraft to assist anyone in need,” the agency said in a statement. “Public safety remains our top priority.”

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol coordinated efforts with local emergency services as water levels continued to rise across parts of the state.
