Oklahoma Highway Patrol reminds drivers to slow down after trooper’s cruiser sideswiped in construction zone

Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol urged motorists to remain alert and cautious in work zones after a trooper’s vehicle was sideswiped on Interstate 35 near Goldsby.

Officials said Trooper Chandler Lipe was in a construction zone on Wednesday when crews had just begun placing cones to close the left lane.

A driver changed lanes at the last moment, scraping the side of the trooper’s cruiser and knocking the side mirror loose.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities noted, however, that if the trooper’s vehicle had not been present, construction workers could have been struck.

The Highway Patrol reminded drivers to pay attention to flashing lights, slow down, and remain vigilant when approaching work zones to help protect both troopers and road crews.
