Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is mourning the loss of K9 Dak, a longtime member of the agency who spent years helping protect communities across Oklahoma.
Dak, born on August 10, 2014, began serving with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 2015 and was assigned to Trooper Eddie Fish #622.
Throughout his career, Dak played an important role in public safety efforts and assisted with major drug seizures, including the recovery of 2,025.5 pounds of marijuana, 46.29 pounds of cocaine, 151.1 pounds of methamphetamine, and 99 pounds of fentanyl.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Dak’s work helped protect countless lives and made communities safer across the state.
Dak completed his final shift alongside Trooper Fish on June 3, 2026, before passing away from natural causes on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Beyond his accomplishments, the agency said Dak was a trusted partner, loyal teammate, and valued member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol family.
Officials honored Dak’s years of service and sacrifice, saying his legacy will continue through the lives he impacted and the work he completed alongside Trooper Fish.
“Rest easy, Dak. Your watch has ended, but your impact will never be forgotten,” the agency said.
