Oklahoma Highway Patrol honors 2024 Trooper of the Year for Valor following dramatic rescue

Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has recognized Trooper Jerrid Hobbie as the 2024 Trooper of the Year for Valor following his heroic actions on August 11, 2024.

That night, Hobbie responded to a rolling domestic disturbance where a man pursued his wife and two children with a firearm.

The situation escalated when the suspect rammed his wife’s vehicle, causing it to overturn and catch fire.

A Bryan County deputy arriving first on scene engaged in a gunfight with the suspect and was struck multiple times.

Hobbie, unaware the deputy had been shot, arrived shortly after, took the suspect into custody, and rendered life-saving aid to the wounded officer.
