Lawton to upgrade playground equipment at eight parks starting in January 2027

Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton will begin its fourth round of park improvements in January 2027, replacing outdated playground equipment at eight parks across the city.

The upgrades will include Harold Park, Francis Curb Park, Country Club Heights Park, East Side Park, Patterson Park, Albert Johnson Park, Sullivan Village Park and Crystal Hills Park.

According to the city, the new playground equipment will provide safer, more accessible play opportunities for children, including ADA-accessible features for those with different physical abilities.

The project follows improvements completed this year at six other parks, while work at Patriot Park and Stephens Park is expected to finish before the end of 2026.

The project is funded through the city’s CIP 2040 Capital Improvement Program. Planning for a fifth round of park improvements is also underway.
