Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy (CPA) began its 13-week course, aimed at educating local citizens about the department and the officers serving in their community.
The course, which will run for several weeks, offers participants a firsthand look at the inner workings of the department and how officers engage with the community.
During the opening session, Chief Smith welcomed the participants and introduced the topics they would be learning about. One highlight of the day was Sergeant Dimmitt’s presentation on the Community Policing Program, which aims to strengthen relationships between officers and residents.
Additionally, Lieutenant Dye and Officer Wattenbarger showcased the department’s Bicycle Team, demonstrating their skills and discussing their role in the community.
The CPA is a valuable opportunity for residents to gain a deeper understanding of law enforcement and build stronger connections with the officers serving their community.
