Lawton, OK – The Lawton Fire Department responded to an injured hiker in the Wichita Mountains on April 16, working alongside the U.S. Wildland Fire Service and the Comanche Nation Fire Department to reach the individual and provide assistance.
Crews located and assisted the hiker in a remote area before helping with transport for further care.
Officials said the response required coordination between multiple agencies due to the terrain and location of the incident.
As warmer weather brings more outdoor activity, the department is reminding the public to plan ahead, stay aware of surroundings, and let someone know their route before heading out.
