Oklahoma – Members of the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, a division of the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, planted a sapling from the iconic Survivor Tree this week to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.
The sapling was placed in the ground outside the Homeland Security Offices at NE 36th and Martin Luther King Avenue in Oklahoma City.
Director of Homeland Security, Rohit Rai, was joined by his two daughters for the planting ceremony, symbolizing remembrance, resilience, and a commitment to the future.
The Survivor Tree, an American elm that withstood the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, has become a symbol of strength and endurance.
The planting of its sapling serves as a living tribute to the victims, survivors, and first responders affected by the tragedy.
The Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security was established in the wake of the bombing with a mission rooted in that painful history—to ensure that such an attack never occurs again on American soil.
