Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton’s latest Stream Clean Saturday brought volunteers together to help clean up Wolf Creek, with 140 pounds of litter removed from the area.
Volunteers spent the morning cleaning Wolf Creek south of Gore Boulevard. The cleanup was cut short because of extreme heat, ending before participants could move on to the second planned location.
Despite the early end, volunteers made a significant impact by removing 140 pounds of litter from the creek area and helping improve the appearance and cleanliness of the community.
The City of Lawton thanked everyone who participated and specifically recognized Sharmaine and Tamara with Lady Luxury Lanes, as well as Danny, Destiny, James, Mallory and her daughter, and Julie, for volunteering their time to help with the cleanup.
Stream Clean Saturday is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to keep local waterways and surrounding areas clean while encouraging residents to take an active role in caring for their community.
The city expressed appreciation to the volunteers who braved the heat to participate and said it hoped to see them at the next Stream Clean Saturday, with cooler weather.
