Duncan Public Works to Close Lanes on Highway 81 for Curb Maintenance

Lawton, OK – The City of Duncan Public Works Department will temporarily close the exterior lanes of Highway 81, both north and southbound, for curb maintenance tomorrow, Dec. 17. The lane closures will affect the stretch of highway between Oak Avenue and Spruce Avenue.

The maintenance work is expected to begin early in the morning and will require drivers to use alternate routes or navigate through reduced lanes. Public Works officials are urging motorists to remain vigilant and follow posted signage in the area, as work crews and equipment will be on-site.

City officials said the maintenance is necessary to ensure the long-term functionality and safety of the roadway. The exterior lanes of Highway 81 will be closed during the work, but the interior lanes will remain open to traffic.

For any questions or additional information, the Public Works Department can be contacted at (580) 252-0250. The department’s office hours are Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan accordingly as the work is carried out.
