Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton is inviting residents to support the return of Wreaths Across America to Highland Cemetery this December by sponsoring wreaths for veterans’ graves or volunteering during the annual ceremony.
The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19, at noon at the Highland Cemetery flagpole, followed by the placement of wreaths on veterans’ graves.
The annual tradition honors military veterans by placing wreaths at their gravesites to remember their service and sacrifice. Community members can participate by sponsoring a wreath or volunteering to help with the ceremony and wreath placement.
The city said there is still time for residents to contribute to the effort and help ensure the tradition continues at Highland Cemetery.
Those interested in sponsoring a wreath or volunteering can find more information through the Wreaths Across America website at https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/OK0100.
The event offers residents an opportunity to come together to honor veterans and preserve their memory through a community-led tribute.
