Lawton, OK – Construction on the new Lawton Animal Welfare Facility is continuing as the project reaches an estimated 30% to 40% completion, with crews making progress on the main addition and a separate storage building.
According to the City of Lawton, the main addition and storage building are now fully erected and covered with exterior sheeting, giving the project a near-finished exterior appearance compared with the city’s August update.
Crews are now working on major systems inside the facility, including electrical, plumbing and HVAC installation. Interior framing is also underway in the new addition as construction moves into the next phase.
The city said work is taking place in both the existing building and the new addition as crews continue integrating the facility’s systems and preparing the site for additional construction.
In the coming weeks, crews are expected to begin bringing the site to grade. That work will allow underground utilities to be installed as construction progresses.
The Lawton Animal Welfare Facility project remains on schedule for completion in April or May 2027, according to the city.
The latest construction update marks another step toward the completion of the expanded facility, which will provide Lawton Animal Welfare with a new and improved space for its operations.
