Lawton, OK – The City of Lawton continued work on the King Road rehabilitation project at the Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport as part of the city’s larger Capital Improvement Plan.
The project is focused on the section of King Road located directly in front of the airport terminal. Improvements are intended to address drainage, pavement and roadway base issues along the roadway.
Crews continued drainage improvements this week as construction moved forward. Additional work is expected to take place as the rehabilitation project progresses.
The King Road work is part of the Citywide Rehabilitation Capital Improvement Plan, which includes infrastructure projects aimed at addressing roadway and other public infrastructure needs throughout Lawton.
The city encouraged motorists traveling to and from the airport to use caution while passing through the construction area. Drivers were advised to slow down, follow posted signs and remain alert around crews and equipment.
The rehabilitation work is expected to continue as crews address the drainage and roadway issues identified along King Road.
