Construction reaches 25% on future Lawton Animal Welfare Facility as building expansion set to arrive

Lawton, OK – Construction on the future Lawton Animal Welfare Facility has reached approximately 25% completion as work continues to move into the next phase of the project, according to the City of Lawton.

City officials said the project has transitioned from demolition into the construction and renovation stage, marking another milestone in the development of the new facility.

Over the coming weeks, crews will prepare for the arrival of a prefabricated building addition, which is expected to be installed later this month. City officials said the addition will be one of the first major visible signs of progress at the site as construction continues.

Lawton officials said the new facility is being designed to provide a modern, welcoming environment for both animals and the community while improving the city’s animal welfare services.

The City plans to continue providing updates throughout construction as additional phases of the project are completed.

The new Animal Welfare Facility is expected to be completed in 2027.
