Lawton Police Department warns drivers after speed radar captures vehicle traveling 89 mph

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department is reminding drivers to slow down after sharing a photo showing a speed radar reading of 89 mph as part of an effort to improve traffic safety.

The department said it is working with the Oklahoma Department of Highway Safety to help reduce speeding and keep roads safer for everyone.

“Slow down. Save lives,” the department said, warning that excessive speed can put drivers, passengers, and others on the roadway at risk.

Police said speeding can quickly turn a normal drive into a dangerous situation and reminded residents that everyone shares the road.

The Lawton Police Department encouraged drivers to follow posted speed limits and make responsible decisions behind the wheel to help ensure everyone arrives safely.

Residents who know of areas where speeding is a problem can report concerns to the department at lawtonpdpio@lawtonok.gov.

Officials said community reports can help identify problem areas and improve traffic safety throughout Lawton.
