Lawton Police Department hosts retiree qualification shoot bringing former officers together for fellowship and firearm certification event

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department reflected on a recent community and department tradition after retirees gathered for a qualification and fellowship event hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 98.

According to the Lawton Police Department, the annual Retiree Qualification Shoot was held this past Saturday, giving retired officers the opportunity to qualify with their firearms while reconnecting with former colleagues.

Officials said the event went beyond standard qualification requirements, serving as a chance for retirees to share stories, rebuild connections, and celebrate their shared history of service within the department.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 98 organized the event and provided lunch for attendees, contributing to what officials described as a successful day of fellowship and appreciation.

The department emphasized that even after retirement, former officers remain part of the broader Lawton Police Department family, noting the importance of maintaining strong bonds among past and present members.

Officials expressed gratitude for the retirees’ years of service and continued involvement in supporting the department and the Lawton community.
