Lawton police captain graduates from elite national law enforcement leadership program

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department is recognizing one of its officers for completing a nationally respected leadership training program at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

The department announced that a Lawton police captain graduated from the Southern Police Institute (SPI), a program founded in 1951 and widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading law enforcement education and training institutions. SPI provides advanced instruction in police leadership, administration, and command-level management for officers across the United States and internationally.

According to the department, the officer completed coursework focused on police administration, organizational management, and leadership development. The program is academically accredited and offers university credit hours as part of its curriculum.

Officials said SPI is designed to prepare law enforcement professionals for higher-level command responsibilities through intensive training and academic study.

The Lawton Police Department said it is proud of the officer’s achievement and commitment to professional growth, noting that continued education plays a key role in strengthening leadership within the agency and improving service to the community.

The department welcomed the captain back and congratulated him on completing the program, describing the accomplishment as an important milestone in his law enforcement career.
