Oklahoma – Governor Kevin Stitt signed a wide range of legislation into law on April 20, 2026, while issuing one veto, according to an official release.
The governor approved several bills covering transportation, education, taxation, environmental policy, and regulatory reform.
Among the signed measures was HB 1411, directing the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to install signage for the True Grit Trail and coordinate with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department on related resources.
Education-related legislation included HB 2361, which requires certain documents to be provided to children exiting foster care or leaving the custody of the Office of Juvenile Affairs, and HB 2398, which establishes a “credential of value” system for higher education and workforce development programs.
Other signed bills addressed school staffing requirements, tax refund donations benefiting veterans programs, medical marijuana employment policies, administrative rulemaking authority, environmental definitions, alcohol reporting requirements, and municipal publication rules.
HB 3704 allows Oklahoma to participate in a federal income tax credit program tied to donations for scholarship-granting organizations, while HB 4319 tightens limits on state agency rulemaking authority, requiring specific legislative authorization for regulations.
Stitt also vetoed HB 3006, a bill that would have extended the sunset date of the Oklahoma Advisory Council on Indian Education.
The vetoed measure would have continued the council’s operations under the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
