Lawton, OK – Members of the Lawton Police Department Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit and the Comanche County District Attorney’s Office recently gave participants in the Citizens Police Academy a detailed view of how cases are handled from start to finish.
Students learned how CSI officers process crime scenes, collect evidence, and use high-tech tools in the field. They also toured the crime scene van and observed demonstrations of investigative procedures.
Assistant District Attorney Jill Oliver explained what happens after an arrest, including how cases are prepared and presented in court, and highlighted the services provided by the District Attorney’s Office to the community.
Week three of the academy gave students a full understanding of the process from the crime scene to the courtroom. Residents interested in joining the next class can contact the COP Division at 580-581-3569.
