Oklahoma Transportation Commission to discuss bridge progress and upcoming projects August 4

Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, August 4, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. The public and media are invited to attend in person or watch the livestream online.

During the meeting, Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) Executive Director Tim Gatz will provide an update on the department’s progress addressing structurally deficient highway bridges and recent changes in the state’s national ranking.

Commissioners will also be briefed on ODOT’s upcoming Snowplow Naming Contest, which will open to K-12 students in mid-August.

The commission is scheduled to vote on awarding several contracts, including projects to improve the I-40/I-40B interchanges in Clinton, US-270B/Kickapoo Street in Shawnee, and the next phase of the I-35 widening project near Thackerville.

The full agenda packet is available online. The meeting will be livestreamed on Ustream, with recordings and captions made available to the public after the event.

The commission is a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awarding monthly contracts for road and bridge construction projects.
