Governor Kevin Stitt signs key legislation advancing tax cuts, business growth, and education reform

Oklahoma – Governor Kevin Stitt celebrated the close of a productive legislative session by signing several major bills aimed at boosting Oklahoma’s economy, supporting businesses, and improving education.

Among the highlights, Stitt approved a quarter-point reduction in the personal income tax and a plan to eventually eliminate the income tax for all Oklahomans. These tax cuts are part of the governor’s vision to make Oklahoma the most business-friendly state in the nation.

The governor also signed bills supporting business growth, including the “Behind-the-Meter” legislation (S.B. 480), which encourages energy innovation, and the establishment of business courts (S.B. 632) designed to streamline commercial litigation. Reforms to fines, fees, and court costs were approved under H.B. 1460.

Education priorities were addressed with measures eliminating virtual learning days (S.B. 758), banning cell phones in schools (S.B. 139), and expanding internship and apprenticeship opportunities for students (S.B. 95).

“Oklahoma is the most business-friendly state in the nation, and the policies I signed into law this session will make our state even more attractive to companies looking to set up shop,” Stitt said. “We’ve seen that success over the past few weeks with multiple companies pledging to invest billions of dollars and create thousands of jobs in our state. The best is yet to come for Oklahoma, and we’re making it even easier to live, work and raise a family here.”

These legislative achievements reflect priorities laid out by Governor Stitt during his February State of the State address and underscore the state’s commitment to economic growth and workforce readiness.
