Intersection at 67th Street and Cache Road remains partially obstructed due to ongoing Cache Road waterline project repairs

Lawton, OK – The intersection at 67th Street and Cache Road remains partially obstructed due to ongoing work related to the Cache Road 36” Waterline Project, which began in September 2023.

Initial closures at the intersection were implemented to accommodate early construction activities. In June 2024, a leak was discovered, prompting Water Distribution crews to replace a valve on the water main.

Another leak was reported in January 2025, but despite efforts by both Water Distribution and contracted crews, the source of the leak could not be located for nearly a week. Once identified, the repair required a specialized spacer that had been on backorder for several months.

As of April 22, officials have received confirmation that the necessary part has been shipped, with the repair scheduled for next week, pending delivery. Once the repair is completed, the ground around the pipeline will need to settle for approximately two weeks before asphalt and concrete restoration can begin.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area and follow posted signs and detours. Further updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
