Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department recently hosted a Sensory Day event, providing a unique opportunity for families in the special needs community to connect with local law enforcement.
The event, held on April 5th, aimed to introduce children with autism, also known as “Ausome kiddos,” to police officers in a supportive and sensory-friendly environment.
Participants had the chance to meet officers, explore police vehicles, and learn about the role of law enforcement in a safe, hands-on setting. Lt. Schwenk encouraged families to register in advance via email for the event.
The department expressed gratitude to all who attended and looked forward to future community events, inviting attendees to stay connected via their Facebook page for more information on upcoming activities.
