Water line break causes closure of NW Ferris in Lawton

Lawton, OK – The city of Lawton, Oklahoma, announced the closure of NW Ferris from NW Fort Sill Blvd to NW 14th Street on April 7, 2025, due to a 24-inch water line break.

The break occurred as a result of shifting clay soils after several days of rain. This type of issue is common after extended dry spells followed by heavy spring showers.

Water service was restored to all affected customers, and the city reported that repair work on the 24-inch main would begin soon.

The repairs were expected to take 8 to 10 hours.

Lawton city officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as the repair process continued.
