Search and rescue ends safely after overnight effort to locate missing kayakers on Jed Johnson Lake 

Lawton, OK – A potentially dangerous situation at Jed Johnson Lake ended safely after emergency crews completed a search for two kayakers whose boat reportedly capsized late Sunday night.

According to the Lawton Fire Department, crews were dispatched after receiving reports that a kayak had overturned and its occupants were unaccounted for. Firefighters joined forces with Refuge and Medicine Park teams, deploying two boats to assist in the search operation.

After several tense hours, both the Lawton Fire Department and Lawton Police Department confirmed that all individuals involved had been located and were safe.

“All parties have been accounted for at this time,” the Lawton Police Department stated in an update around 9:25 p.m. “Thank you for the assistance.”

The fire department also expressed gratitude for the public’s support and concern, writing, “Everyone is safe. Thank you all for your prayers and concern.”

No injuries were reported, and all emergency crews have since cleared the scene.
