Oklahoma Transportation Commission discusses impact of federal funding continuing resolution; $135 million in projects awarded

Lawton, OK – The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s February 3 meeting highlighted several key updates, including a briefing on the impact of the federal funding continuing resolution, which has led to the awarding of $135 million in projects.

Tim Gatz, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), provided commissioners with details about the recent deposit of federal funds.

While the resolution covers only about 45 percent of the department’s total federal fiscal year appropriations, it enables short-term project awards.

Gatz assured the commissioners that this was a routine part of the appropriations process, unrelated to recent executive orders affecting the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Additionally, ODOT received the 2024 Pharaoh Award from the Association of Oklahoma General Contractors.

The award recognized ODOT’s District 4 Yukon Residency for its high-quality work on the US-281/Route 66 Bridgeport “Pony” Bridge in Canadian County, which was completed ahead of the 2026 Route 66 Centennial Celebration.

This recognition underscores ODOT’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvement and alignment with national priorities.
