Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper retires after 26 years of service to the state 

Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol announced the retirement of Trooper Steven Meridith following 26 years of service to the State of Oklahoma.

Meridith joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1999 and graduated from the 51st academy class.

Prior to his career with OHP, he served as a reserve deputy with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office and as assistant chief of the Westville Police Department.

After completing the academy, Meridith was assigned to the Adair–Cherokee County detachment. In 2016, he transferred to the Cherokee Turnpike, where he served until 2021.

In December 2021, he transferred to Troop S, where he worked in commercial motor vehicle enforcement.

During his career, Meridith also served as a drug recognition expert and a standardized field sobriety test instructor.

Officials described him as a dedicated public servant and a well-known figure in the Adair County community.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol extended its appreciation for his years of service and wished him well in retirement.
