Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) are deeply saddened by the passing of District 7 Oklahoma Transportation Commissioner Stephen J. LaForge on Friday, February 14. LaForge was a respected leader and passionate advocate for transportation improvements, dedicating his life to bettering the communities of Oklahoma.
LaForge was appointed to the Oklahoma Transportation Commission by Governor Kevin Stitt in April 2019, representing District 7, which includes nine counties in Southwestern Oklahoma. He also served as a member of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Board from 1995 to 2003, playing a crucial role in the state’s transportation progress.
A respected business leader and community advocate, LaForge understood the critical importance of a robust transportation network and worked tirelessly to deliver necessary improvements swiftly and responsibly. His deep commitment to public service and the people of Oklahoma left a lasting impact on the state’s transportation infrastructure.
