LAWTON, Okla. – Authorities in Caddo County have confirmed that a man who escaped from the county courthouse on Monday evening is now back in custody. Levi Yeahpu, 32, was apprehended this afternoon after a coordinated search effort involving the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office, Anadarko Police Department, and the District 6 Task Force.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Yeahpu fled the courthouse sometime before 5 p.m. on January 22, 2025. Officials stated that despite his escape, he posed no immediate danger to the community. Authorities quickly launched an investigation and were able to track him down just hours later.
In addition to being recaptured, Yeahpu is now facing new charges, including obstructing an officer and assaulting a police officer. The Sheriff’s Office also reported that two individuals were arrested for allegedly harboring a fugitive, although their identities have not been disclosed at this time.
The escape and subsequent arrest have raised questions about courthouse security in Caddo County. While no further details about how Yeahpu managed to escape have been released, the quick response from local law enforcement agencies highlights their commitment to ensuring public safety.
