Man Found Dead After Southeast Oklahoma City Home Engulfed in Flames

Oklahoma City, OK – A man was found dead early Wednesday morning after a house fire in Southeast Oklahoma City. The fire, which broke out around 6 a.m. on SE 34th Street, fully consumed the home, leaving it a total loss.

Fire crews responded to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze, which was accompanied by downed power lines in the backyard. Battalion Chief Greg Lindsay of the Oklahoma City Fire Department described the fire as particularly intense, with heavy heat and flames complicating the firefighting efforts.

“It was a lot of heat. We had a lot of fire,” Lindsay said, noting the severity of the situation. “The house was fully engulfed when we arrived.”

The residence was home to six individuals, all believed to be in middle adulthood. Initially, fire crews were under the impression that everyone had safely escaped the house. However, after further investigation and efforts to put out remaining hot spots inside the structure, firefighters discovered the body of one man inside.

“Once we were able to get inside the structure, crews were in there hitting hot spots and pulling back debris to ensure the fire was out,” Lindsay explained. “Unfortunately, they did find one individual inside who was deceased.”

Local resident Angel Charqueno, who lives nearby, expressed his shock at the tragedy. He woke up to the sound of sirens and witnessed fire trucks and thick smoke outside his home. “I’ve never seen a fire that bad,” Charqueno said, shaken by the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding the fire have not yet been released. As of now, the authorities are working to determine the cause and ensure the safety of the remaining residents of the home.
