LPD hosts International Homicide Investigators Association course to train officers in advanced investigative skills 

Lawton, OK – The Lawton Police Department is hosting the International Homicide Investigators Association’s Foundational Homicide Investigations Course from December 8-12, 2025, bringing investigators from across the region to Lawton, Oklahoma, for specialized training.

Participants are training alongside instructors from the IHIA, the FBI, and partnering law enforcement agencies.

The course covers essential skills for homicide investigations, including crime scene processing, evidence handling, digital forensics, interview and interrogation techniques, and courtroom presentation.

Department officials said the training provides high-quality, nationally recognized instruction to agencies in Southwest Oklahoma and across the United States.
