Lawton Woman Faces Embezzlement Charges for Stealing Over $20,000 from Flower Mound PTO

LAWTON, Okla. — A local woman is facing embezzlement charges after authorities say she stole more than $20,000 from the Flower Mound Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) during her tenure as treasurer.

Brigitte Sharp, 43, has been accused of misappropriating funds between late 2015 and early 2017 while serving as the PTO treasurer. According to court documents, the then-president of the Flower Mound PTO reported the financial discrepancies, which prompted an investigation by authorities.

Investigators say they found bank statements showing payments from the PTO’s account to credit cards in the name of Sharp’s ex-husband. An audit of the PTO’s accounts revealed that these payments were identical to those made from Sharp’s ex-husband’s credit card accounts. Sharp’s ex-husband, when interviewed, denied any knowledge of the accounts or the payments, claiming that the credit cards were opened in his name without his permission and that he only became aware of the situation in 2019.

The alleged embezzlement raises serious concerns about the management of funds within the nonprofit organization, which primarily supports the educational needs of local students. If convicted, Sharp faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to examine the extent of the alleged theft. Sharp has yet to respond to the charges in court.
